Facebook to start showing more from people, less from pubs

Remember when your Facebook feed was full of post from friends and family? It’s coming back. FB announced today it’s going to start minimizing posts from news publishers and brands to allow you to have more “meaningful interaction” with the actual people you know (or kind of know).

The New York Times has a full write-up on it. Or you can get it straight from Facebook.

In the short run, this is probably going to affect site referrals from those business that got used to the traffic from Facebook. There was a test back in October that showed a big drop in traffic.

Hopefully the other test that Facebook is running, where news shows up in a special section, pans out.

In the meantime, start building your core strengths. If you supply good content, you’ll be okay.
