Helping a Trout Unlimited raffle go viral

The Pere Marquette Chapter of Trout Unlimited (PMTU) really embodies a bootstrap, grass-roots, non-profit. Though it’s a part of the national Trout Unlimited organization, it has a small membership base, relying on a core group of dedicated volunteers to pull off fundraisers and conservation efforts in West Michigan.
It doesn’t hurt that the chapter helps protect the Pere Marquette River, one of the best cold water fisheries in the U.S. for trout, salmon, and steelhead.
Since 2018, Tight Lines Digital has partnered with PMTU to build and maintain its website. Initially, the site was largely designed to be a brochure for the chapter, along with selling a collection of books, calendars, sweatshirts, and hats.

That started to change in 2020 when due to COVID-19, fundraising efforts went from in-person to online.
We started with two rounds of raffles for guided fishing trips. Online sales were strong, exceeding expectations in a short window of time.

Then in March of 2021, the chapter blew the doors off the place with an online raffle of a Stealthcraft drift boat. Tight Lines Digital set up a system that allowed the chapter to sell 250 raffle tickets at $50 apiece in under six hours! That’s $12,500 in one afternoon!
